In the Cyclades, and particularly in Tinos, connecting with a community means entering a territory shaped equally by endurance and erosion. Any meaningful engagement must begin not with intervention, but with listening — to the land, to its materials, and to the people layered with memories embedded in craft, religion, migration, and labor. That is what toichos project represents – relationships the toichos project starts with its people. Marble carvers, dry-stone builders, local organisations, researchers, architects, designers, archaeologists, weavers, and young collaborators exchange knowledge across generations, reconnecting the island’s living traditions with contemporary thinking.

Community
We are so enormously proud have been blessed to be trusted and have the support of the island’s community in many aspects.
- The Ambassada Association that was kind enough to provide us with tools for the dry-stone wall building.
- The Environmental Team of the Vocational High School of Tinos that was kind enough to come and build with us a 10 meter a wall close to the renowned “Our Lady of Tinos” church.
- The Archdiocese of Naxos, Andros, Tinos & Mykonos was kind enough to allow us to use the communal spaces of the Sacred Heart Sunctuary as workshop.
- The Higher School of Fine Arts & Marble Craftsmanship Panormos Tinos flocked around us and provided marble pieces, exprerience, technical solutions and ofcourse a team of students from the school were a vital part all the aspects of our project.
- The Association of Women that encouraged us and trusted so as to give their sensitive textiles as a loan to us. Wonderful 70 year old crafts that worked in tandem with the creations of our participants.
